INCLINE VILLAGE OVER THE YEARS
The North Shore was an excellent source of timber and logging which was needed to support the thriving Washoe mining business.. A 4,000 foot-long tramline was located in what is now known as the Millcreek Subdivision.
Around 1930, summer homes started being built within Incline Village, located in the area currently known as Incline Beach.
The Crystal Bay Development Company approached Captain Whittell, who was in his declining years, with an offer to purchase his 9,000 acre estate which today is Incline Village. Crystal Bay Development Company had a grand plan to create a “master planned community” which was totally unique, utilizing all of Mother Nature’s qualities to their best for one community’s complete enjoyment. The sale went through and the plans began.
The Incline Village General Improvement District (IVGID) was created by Washoe County
Incline and Burnt Cedar Beaches purchased by IVGID for $2.1 Million
IVGID purchased the Championship Golf Course and Executive Golf Course (now called the Mountain Golf Course) and Ski Incline (now known as Diamond Peak).
Recreation Center opened it’s doors for the first time.
Lakeshore Realty was founded.
Community Skate Park opened.
New Chateau Opened
